Installation Guide

HALO Installation Guide

Under 30 minutes · No control box · Fully reversible · Tools: plastic trim tool, fishing line or dental floss, mild heat (hair dryer), painter's tape.

Step 1 — Remove the factory rear badge

BMW rear roundels are held by locating pins seated in grommets, plus adhesive on many models:

  1. Warm the badge for 1–2 minutes with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive (don't overheat the paint).
  2. Slide fishing line or dental floss behind the badge and work it side-to-side to cut through the adhesive.
  3. Gently pry upward with a plastic trim tool — never metal — working around the edge until the pins release from their grommets.
  4. Clean the leftover adhesive with isopropyl alcohol. You'll see one or two small pin holes in the trunk lid where the badge pins sat.

Step 2 — Route the wires through the pin holes

Those factory pin holes are your wiring path — no drilling needed on most cars:

  1. Feed the antenna wire through one pin hole into the trunk lid.
  2. Feed the power wires through the other pin hole.
  3. Inside the trunk lid, route the wiring along the existing factory harness channel toward the fuse box, securing with the included clips.

No pin holes on your car? Most BMWs have them — but if yours doesn't, a single thin hole can be drilled behind the badge position (hidden once HALO is mounted). Most cars do not need this.

Step 3 — Mount HALO

  1. Position the mounting ring using the automotive-grade adhesive — it fits both 74mm and 82mm badge recesses.
  2. Press HALO into the ring until flush. Hold for 30 seconds. Full adhesive cure: 24 hours (avoid car washes during this time).

Step 4 — Power: fuse box connection

  1. Locate your trunk-area fuse box (see your owner's manual for the exact position).
  2. If your car has a 12V socket: plug the supplied connector into the 12V socket — done.
  3. If there's no socket: connect the direct wires to a switched 12V fuse circuit using the supplied fuse-box connector. No cutting or splicing of factory wiring.
  4. Connect the USB-C cable from HALO to the power lead.

Step 5 — Switch your mode

Turn the ignition on, open panel.revmode.com on your phone, and HALO connects automatically. Pick a pre-loaded animation or upload your own image, video or GIF. Set Loop, Static, or Auto — done.

Removal

Fully reversible: warm the mounting ring, floss the adhesive, unplug, and refit the factory badge in its original grommets.
